I know not what it is,
but my head bows
of itself.
One day a friend & I canoed on the Laguna de
Santa Rosa. So beautiful! Sky, water, cattails, ducks, & especially
the egrets. I felt such peace & joy being in the quiet among
them.
Yet I also felt the absence of old trees, once abundant
fish, huge flocks of birds, & especially the elk. Their ghosts—&
their sorrow—were almost visible.
Maybe reverence is just joy mixed with awareness
of time & death.
