| 30 years ago I showed a friend a series of lyrical erotic drawings with some embarrassment—“I’m supposed to be painting pictures to save the environment....” He replied that he thought nothing would be better for the environment than healing relations between men & women. There is a resonance between couple love & environmental patterns. Whenever I see a tree coming down, I wonder who’ll break up this time. Maybe it’s not that simple, but the disintegration of ecological systems impair our emotional functioning. I believe our healing with our loves ripples healing out across the biosphere. There is also a power in all male-female interplay, particularly when it’s joyous, revelatory, & dynamic. From spiders to California poppies, sex is the dance of the universe unfolding. |
